- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2016Cheap material, but what do you expect from a cheap international version. Content is great, so 5/5.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2017The book came quickly. It had no damages. I'm looking forward to reading the updated version, as the last time I read it was many years ago in school.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021The economic version is still a scam: hard to read because of the printing quality and there are random "ORIGINAL" stamps on the cover to hide the previous ownership. It is hilarious.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2018This book is not intended for sale in the United States. On the facing page to the TOC is this notice: "This edition is authorized for sale only in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Circulation of this edition outside of these territories is UNAUTHORIZED". There are also stickers on the front cover, top left and the back cover, bottom center, that might be hiding similar warnings. Both of these stickers just have "NEW" printed on them.
Also from the back cover: "This international edition preserves the cutting-edge approach and pedagogy of the original, but may also feature alterations, customization and adaptation from the United States version."
Follow-up ... I filed an inquiry with Amazon and heard from the seller and the sale is entirely legal following a Supreme Court decision back in the '90s. So much for the above. There are some physical defects, however, as some pages are not cut at the top and the text skews downward. Still readable.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2016Very nice book. Currently using for the compilers course.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016Excellent book and a good reference book for all the future engineers!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020As other reviewers have mentioned, this is the International Edition that's missing Chapter 12 and has other alterations. DO NOT BUY! I immediately had issues with the binding, pages just started falling out. The PDF for the US edition is available online for free. If you're like me and NEED a hardcopy, print it at your local Fedex.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2019If you thought you would save a few bucks buying the paperback be warned! The paperback is only in the "International" edition i.e. the version for India, Bangladesh et al. Just see the title of the book and it is already wrong! It is not authorized for the United States and states on the back that it may feature alterations et al. It is an unreliable edition that is unauthorized--not the true dragon book. I give it two stars because, besides the title, I am unable to find any other blatant issues yet, as this is the newest impression and the printers may very well finally be getting things right. Still, having an unreliable version makes everything more difficult, because what's the point of a book if you have to double check everything?

1.0 out of 5 stars The printing quality is AWFULLL
Beware: this is an Idian version.
The quality of the printing is AWFUL... even unreadabe -> on many pages, text is kind of overlapping itself with a weird shadow, it makes all things blury. Also on many (most?) pages the inking seems grey instead of black, and the letter are thin..
How can they even sell something like this? Asked for a refund.

3.0 out of 5 stars Version "internationale"
Le livre est arrivé en bon état, mais l'impression est par certains endroits de mauvaise qualité. Il l'agit en fait d'une version dite "internationale" imprimée en Inde dont la vente n'est normalement autorisée que dans certains pays d'Asie. La mention figurant sur la couverture : "circulation of this edition outside the indian subcontinent is unauthorized" a été effacée. Hormis ces points l'ouvrage est ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have
Un classico must have per chi si occupa di definire e implementare nuovi linguaggi di programmazione e compilatori. Scrittura rigorosa e completa.
