Prioritizing Based on Impact
00:00 Now that your roadmap is complete, you likely have more items to study than you can tackle at once. So now you need a way to prioritize them. One way to do this is by taking inspiration from the Eisenhower’s Quadrant, which you’re looking at right here. Try dividing your desired skills into four categories based on impact and urgency.
00:21 Each skill would go into one of the four quadrants: high-impact, high-urgency skills deserve your immediate attention. These are things such as Python syntax, control flow, data structures, and basic Git commands.
00:35 These are skills that transfer across all domains and signal professionalism to employers. High-impact but lower-urgency skills should get regular but less intense focus. These are things such as test-driven development and clear documentation.
00:53 Lower-impact items can wait. You don’t need to master every Python library or tool before you’re ready to work as a developer. You need depth in the skills needed for your chosen career path and breadth in the fundamentals.
01:06 So now that you know in which order your skills should be learned, in the next lesson, you’ll reflect about the plan you’ve just created.
