Thanks for buying a copy of Python Basics: A Practical Introduction to Python 3 and supporting Real Python! You’re awesome!
You can access the bonus material, such as quizzes, exercise solutions, and code challenges at the following URL:
→ realpython.com/python-basics/resources/
This is your “hub” for accessing all of the book materials, so be sure to check it out. Of course you’ll also find the relevant exercises and quizzes at the end of each section in the book. But the resources page linked above is where you can find it all in one spot.
Happy Pythoning!
FAQ
How will I receive updates?
You’ll always find the latest version available for download here on realpython.com.
How do I access the book bonus material (exercises, quizzes, …)?
The first chapter in the book contains links to the bonus materials—an online learning path, coding exercises and challenges, and interactive quizzes to check your learning progress.
Some of the PDF links don’t work? (macOS Preview PDF viewer)
In current versions (Dec 2020) of Preview, Safari, TexShop, and Skim, any #
symbols in link URLs are (incorrectly) converted to %23
when the link is clicked. This is a known issue with macOS’s PDFKit renderer and it will hopefully get fixed soon by Apple. As a workaround you can manually fix those URLs in the browser window by replacing the %23
with a #
in the URL bar, or you can use a different PDF viewer, like Adobe Acrobat.
How can I give feedback on the book?
Please use this link to share your feedback: realpython.com/python-basics/feedback
We welcome any and all feedback or suggestions for improvement you may have.
Please feel free to be as terse or detailed as you see fit. All feedback is stored anonymously, but you can choose to leave your name and contact information so we can follow up or mention you on our “Thank You” page.
Thank you for helping us make this book an even more valuable learning resource for the Python community.

i need a hard copy
Ricky White RP Team on Feb. 8, 2020
Hi @paulmeek87, we are in the process of getting a paperback version ready for publishing. Hopefully will be done in a month or two. Hope that helps.
hansenk on March 26, 2020
Will purchasers of the book get a hard copy sent to them when it’s published?
JulioPDX on March 26, 2020
same as hansenk asked. will we get a hard copy? thanks a bunch!
JulioPDX on March 27, 2020
I read the FAQ, no we will not. Will have to purchase a hard copy separately.
Dan Bader RP Team on March 27, 2020
Yep that’s correct. When the paperback version is released it will be a separate purchase from Amazon or your favorite local book store.

Very impressed so far!:)
hansenk on March 30, 2020
How much will the hard copy of the book be? Is there a discount for those who’ve already purchased the early access? I’d like to review it as a possible book to use in one of my classes next year.
Dan Bader RP Team on March 30, 2020
Pricing for the hard copy will depend on our printing costs and I will try to have some kind of discount available for early access customers who got the digital version. So stay tuned for further announcements on the email newsletter :)

The first step should really be to download the book files. When I went to Start Here > Learning Path each Chapter opens the product page asking me to buy the book again. Not very intuitive for a brand new user.

Any updates on the status of the hardcopy?
Dan Bader RP Team on May 20, 2020
COVID-19 pushed us back a little on the paperback version (no point in launching it now as it would take several weeks to deliver). But we’re currently applying the finishing touches on the content and will soon wrap up the early access phase with a full release of the ebook version. Paperback will come out this summer, I can’t wait to hold it in my hands!

Hi Dan,
I guess I didn’t read the fine print. I prefer a paperback version. Is their any way I can change my purchase to apply against a Paper/Hardback when it comes out?
robbuckingham on May 31, 2020
There is a one year money back guarantee @siegelmtx
ahmedbaobaid10 on July 1, 2020
Can I get the hard copy of the book, and does it come with my subscription, its really difficult for me to read from the laptop because my eyes condition.
David Amos on July 6, 2020
Hi @ahmedbaobaid10. We don’t have hard copies available yet. Hopefully those will be available in a few months.
As far as coming with your subscription goes, the book does not come included with your subscription. It is a separate product.
