Behavioral Interview Round

Your question-to-story table looks great on paper. But will your stories hold up when someone phrases the questions slightly differently and then presses for details? In this session, you’ll find out.

Mentor AI plays a friendly but realistic hiring manager for your target role and runs a short behavioral round. It takes about 25 minutes. Here’s what to expect:

  • You warm up with “Tell me about yourself,” so you get another chance to practice your pitch.
  • Next come four behavioral questions drawn from your target posting’s requirements. At least one is about a mistake or a disagreement, and one is a question you probably didn’t prepare for.
  • After each answer, your interviewer follows up once or twice, just like a real one would.
  • Say each answer out loud first (or record it), and then type what you said without tidying it up. That’s the closest a text chat gets to a real interview.

Before you start, get a few things ready to paste. You’ll need your profile.md card, your target posting (or its top requirements from requirements_map.md), and your question-to-story table from interview_prep.md. If you don’t have a posting yet, you can practice with a sample candidate’s materials instead.

Your interviewer stays in character until the wrap-up. Type hint for a nudge if you’re stuck, pause to step out and ask a coaching question, or wrap up to skip to your feedback. The wrap-up shows which requirements you provided evidence for in your answers, along with two strengths and two things to practice.
