This is the big one! You’ve practiced your pitch, your answers to behavioral questions, your project walkthrough, your responses to concerns, and your questions one at a time. Now you’ll put them together in a full mock interview based on an actual job posting.
Mentor AI plays the hiring manager for a role you want. The interview takes about 40 minutes and follows this order:
- “Tell me about yourself”
- Three or four behavioral questions drawn from the posting’s requirements, including one you probably didn’t predict
- A deep dive into one of your projects
- One question about something in your background that might concern a reader
- Your questions for the interviewer
Your interviewer won’t coach you during the interview. Prepare beforehand, without help, the way you would for a real interview. Get a few things ready to paste. You’ll need your profile.md card, the posting, your interview_prep.md notes, and your tailored CV for this posting if you have one. Keep your notes to story titles and bullet points rather than full scripts. As before, say each answer out loud first, then type what you said.
Type pause if you need to step out of the interview, or wrap up to end it and go to the debrief. There’s no hint command this time because a real interviewer won’t give you a hint. The debrief follows the format many interviewers use for their notes. It goes requirement by requirement, with the evidence they heard for each one.
