Your portfolio probably looks good to you. You know what every project does, why you built it, and where the best part is hiding. A hiring manager who has never heard of you knows none of that. So how does it look to them?
In this mentor session, Mentor AI plays a hiring manager for your target role who reviews your proof cold. First, you predict what they’ll conclude. Then they think out loud during a quick first look, the way a busy reviewer would, before reading more closely for ten minutes and sharing the questions they’d ask. The gaps between your prediction and their assessment become your to-do list.
The session takes about thirty minutes. Have these ready to paste from your career folder:
- Your career profile card from
profile.md - Your proof map from
proof_map.md, including your gap plan - The first screen and case study of your lead project, plus a second project if you have one
- Your profile README or portfolio page text and the list of pinned items with their descriptions
Paste text rather than links so the reviewer sees exactly what you’d show. If you haven’t built your proof map yet, you can review a sample candidate’s portfolio instead and come back with yours later.
