OverflowAI is Stack Overflow’s suite of generative AI features, launched in 2023, that bring conversational search and assistants to Stack Overflow and Stack Internal (formerly Stack Overflow for Teams), grounded in community Q&A and a company’s private knowledge. Its features have since been distributed across Stack Internal, Stackoverflow.ai, and the Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code extension.

OverflowAI also powers the Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code extension, which searches public Stack Overflow and private Stack Internal content, explains and refactors selected code, and turns AI chat transcripts into draft articles from the editor.
