Sourcegraph Cody

Sourcegraph Cody is an AI coding assistant that brings Sourcegraph Code Search context into IDEs for chat, autocomplete, and code understanding. Cody is the IDE assistant for Sourcegraph Enterprise, and it’s distinct from Amp, Sourcegraph’s separate agentic coding tool that took over the individual-developer audience and was spun out as an independent company in late 2025.

Cody integrates with Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio, the Sourcegraph web app, and a command-line interface (CLI). It uses Sourcegraph Search to pull relevant context from local and remote repositories for more accurate answers and suggestions. It supports multiple large language models (LLMs) and lets teams choose between cloud-hosted or self-hosted options to meet security and performance needs, including Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and OpenAI-compatible gateways. As of July 2025, Cody is offered only to Sourcegraph Enterprise customers. The Cody Free, Pro, and Enterprise Starter tiers were discontinued, and individual users are pointed to Amp instead.
