Windsurf

Windsurf is an AI-powered integrated development environment (IDE) that combines a native agent, context-aware chat, and inline code generation in a standalone editor for macOS, Windows, and Linux. In June 2026, its owner Cognition, the maker of the Devin coding agent, rebranded it as Devin Desktop.

Windsurf centers on a codebase-wide context engine that indexes your project to inform multi-file suggestions and chat. Its Devin Local agent, the successor to Cascade, can plan and apply changes across a repository, while Supercomplete, formerly Tab, provides predictive autocomplete directly in the editor. The new default surface is the Agent Command Center, a Kanban view for managing local and cloud agents. Windsurf is available as a full editor and through plugins for popular ecosystems.
